Never send money to someone that you haven't met in real life or give them your bank details. They may even ask you to buy gift cards from Amazon, Google Play etc
Scammers can be very manipulative and persuasive, remember they’re professionals and they know what to say to get what they want.
They use different methods including using social media accounts or dating apps.
They are likely to use an excuse as to why you can’t meet them etc. Common excuses include:

Working in another country (such as on an oil rig / a pilot)

They are in the military
They will also give you excuses as to why they need the money. These can include:

Having a sick relative

They are a widow/single parent

They need money to travel
-
They have debts they need to pay off
