Tip One
Do a background check!
Look at their Facebook or Instagram. Red flags include few followers/friends, no tagged photos, all pictures posted recently. Look at their Snapchat name, does it match the name they've given you? Have they got a suspiciously low snapscore?
Tip Two
Always trust your instincts.
Always trust your instincts. If what they're saying seems too good to be true it probably is.
Tip Three
Tell a friend.
Tell a friend of your plans and keep them updated (both good or bad!) and allow them to see your location.
Have a code word for emergencies, its a discreet way of letting them know you need help/want to leave.
They can call you and pretend to need your help, if your date won't take no for an answer.
Tip Four
Keep your details private.
Keep your personal details private until you meet/trust the person. Knowing your school, work or birthday information, could leave you vulnerable.
Only talk to them on the dating app until you know enough about them to feel comfortable sharing your social media.
Tip Five
Don’t feel pressured.
Don't feel like you need to go home with them, it's always your decision.
You don't owe them anything, if they paid for drinks or dinner that doesn't entitle them to have sex with you.
If travelling a long way to visit, stay with a friend or book a hotel so you don't need to stay at theirs.
Tip Six
Meet them safely.
When meeting for the first time choose a public place that you know well so you can easily leave if need be.
Arrange your own transport there and back, your date may offer but you can politely decline and use your pre-arranged method.
Tip Seven
Report them!
You can report behaviours to the dating app, this will prevent it happening to others.
If you believe the profile the person is using is fake and not who they really are; if they sent you threatening or offensive messages; or if they send you explicit or pornographic images without your consent, then report them.
Hope they help!
