Tip One
Ensure your passwords are as secure as possible by making use of password generating and storing facilities.
According to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the most commonly hacked passwords are “12345”, “123456”, “123456789”, “abc123”, “qwerty”, “1111111” and even the word “password.”
Cybercriminals are now using advanced hacking tools to crack even the most complex passwords and so having a hard to crack password is vital.
Tip Two
Ensure your device software and downloadable Apps are up to date; try not to wait to be prompted. Refresh by checking the settings for updates, and updating as soon as possible.
Tip Three
Install antivirus, run regular checks and updates.
Also, install firewalls where appropriate, configuring them to deny traffic by default.
Tip Four
If you come across a suspicious website, don’t just ignore it, blacklist it, so other don’t fall for the scam!
Tip Five
Verify the Network; Configure and Turn off Sharing. Remember that hackers are very clever, so its better to surf and play smart.
